PSI Woodworking TSGUARD Table Saw Dust Collection Guard

Comparatively good value4

This supplements a dust collector through the bottom of my cabinet saw -- and cuts way down on fine sawdust put into the air from above. I use it with a Fein vac (my main dust collector is only a Jet 1.5hp unit piped some distance away) and find the combination works well.

I also use this with a Biesemeyer splitter in the back and find the combination to be safe and unobtrusive. The construction on this is adequate -- in my case I added some bracing from the ceiling. Bottom line -- with a little work this does the job at about half the price compared to some alternatives.More detail ...

PSI Woodworking CSC3000C Barracuda Wood Lathe Key Chuck System

Good chuck for the money5

I've had this chuck for over a year now and have used it quite a bit. I find it easy to use and reliable. You get a fairly complete set of jaws as part of the standard package - I added the large flat jaws but wish they were even bigger.

Someone asked about the screws holding the jaws on - I also worried about losing one or more in the shavings when I was changing the jaws so I contacted PSI and asked them about buying some more. The sent me eight screws free. If you're having problems (like with the allen wrench) contact them. I've always found them extremely responsive.More detail ...

Wilton 63144 Heavy-Duty Woodworking Vise

I love it!5

This is the first woodworkers vise that I have ever owned and I did as much research as possible before buying. I found at least four models in various 'box' stores and woodworkers stores. Every one seemed crudely made. I compared a few models available from Amazon but lacked enough experience to make an informed choice. I ordered the Wilton because of the generally favorable reviews. It looks and feels like a quality tool. I think that I will like the fact that the screw is covered by the frame and will not easily collect dust. My first serious use was to debark some small logs. I found that the outside jaw face swiveled nicely to provide a firm grip on almost any log the mechanism was quick to operate and a pleasure to use and there was no 'give' whatsoever when I peeled off large strips of wood with my drawknife.

I am really happy with my choice.More detail ...

PSI Woodworking LCGRIND4 Complete 4-Piece Precision Lathe Chisel Sharpening System

poorly constructed non-user friendly and generally more hassle than it's worth2

Most people are going to buy this for the fingernail profile tool since those of us with the expendable income to purchase an item like this are probably turning bowls. (As opposed to "real" stuff like table legs.) A correctly ground fingernail profile like the espresso "god shot" is definitely a hit or miss endeavor that may cause premature hair loss. BUT a jig will make it easy right? Not so fast. First of all the knobs that hold the jig fixtures in place will hit your grinder when you adjust them unless you put about 6 inches of wood underneath your grinder first. After doing so the regular grinding platform fixture is too far away from the wheel to be of any use. But hey you can still use the fingernail jig right? Yea well mine was so poorly put together that it held my gouges at a slanted angle producing a slanted fingernail grind. Hard to explain but fwiw I purchased the wolverine fixture and it works perfectly. So that's why it gets two stars. You can use the wolverine fingernail fixture with it. So it's not a complete waste I guess.More detail ...

PSI Woodworking D50A 4-Inch by 50 Flexible Dust Collection Hose

Worth the Price4

I had a choice in hose selection when planning out my DC system. I figured I needed about 50 feet in connection my 6 pieces of equipment. I could either purchase this hose or 5 ten foot lengths of the "other" black hose. I bought this 50 foot hose and one ten foot section for comparision. I'm glad I got this hose.

Granted the 50 foot hose is not as thick but it is thick enough and sturdy enough for all my applications. It is much easier to work with more flexible. For the price this hose is the way to go. Even in cutting the hose I had to poke a hole thru the hose with a pointed pair of scissors. The semi-blunted end of the wire cutters would not poke a hole in the hose!!

The ten foot hose has to be cut in the exact length needed it will not collapse if cut too long. If cut too short...... The 50 foot hose will collapse and if you have a machine on coasters then when properly planned will expand when the machine is used. The 50 foot hose arrives in a box that is only about 4 feet long the ten foot hose arrived in a box much larger and is not compacted (it can't be).

This hose gives more options the only negative thing in comparsion to the 10 foot hose is it is not as rigid or stiff. Which can be a positive thing.More detail ...

PSI Woodworking DC725 Portable Tabletop Dust Collector

Lousy quality control.1

Received item but the fans would not work. Had to remove the cover on the wiring section on unit to find wire not inserted in the terminal strip.Fixed problem & unit works ok. But the claim that fans are super quiet is not true. Also was missing part of the foam strips (which were described in the manual as cork). I plan on contacting the Manufacturer & letting them know that had we not needed this for my wife's project it would have been returned.More detail ...

Bessey BGPKIT General Purpose Clamp Kit

Great shop addition at phenomenal price!5

Bessey clamps are first class all the way and there's a lot packed into this package. With amazon.com inventory reduction the deal was so good I ordered a second set after I got the first. As the saying goes "You can never have too many clamps." I hadn't ever seen Bessey pipe clamps on the shelf (only Pony and cheap Chinese knock-offs) and these don't disappoint: well-finished and easy-operating. Bottom line is to price these clamps out separately and see what a great deal you're getting.More detail ...

PSI Woodworking PPS-2 Portable Panel Saw System (Saw Not-included)

Very Nice with some limitations5

I have used my PPS-2 'system' for a couple of months and I am very happy I bought it. This is especially useful when you have to shave just a bit off of the end of a panel especially if you have to taper the cut. Just clamp the guide down and the saw glides along right where you want it.

I won't re-hash all of the points covered by the many other reviewers. First you can get a better feel for this tool by checking out the reviews of its predecessor the PSI Woodworking PPS-B Portable Panel Saw System. Note that the complaints for that system can be summarized as: "the system is too flimsy". Well the new PPS-2 system seems to have taken care of that. Note the difference in shipping wt. (42# for the PPS-2 vs about 24# for the PPS-B). I have been impressed by the solid feel of the PPS-2. My saw glides smoothly along the straight edge with no deflection. The only small complaint is that the two pieces of the guide are connected with two rods each with about 6 set screws. This takes a few minutes every time you connect/disconnect it. I only use the full 9' of the guide when ripping sheets. Otherwise the 4.5' section is easier to work with. As other reviewers stated be ready to modify the plate or your saw in order to get them attached and plan on purchasing a dedicated saw for the PPS-2.

Update: After reading other reviewer comments I don't understand how anyone can make this thing deflect significantly. My saw glides so effortlessly across the guide that you do not need to put any lateral pressure on the guide. If you attached a piece of hardboard under the gauge (highly recommended to reduce set up time) as described as an option in the manual it further stiffens the guide. Also I can't comment on the supplied clamps because I don't use them; it is so easy to just use 'quick clamps'--and they haven't slipped on me yet.

Another update: After using this a bit more (about a year) I now understand how this unit can deflect in the middle of the cut. If you do not bolt the hardboard or plywood stiffener under the guide (as I mentioned above) this guide will deflect at the center if you are using the full 9' length. So this eliminates the option of using 1/2 the guide for shorter cuts and combining both halves for longer rips. That is if you buy this for 8' cuts permanently connect both halves of the guide. If you want to use it for shorter cuts be wary about joining the two halves (You will probably need to devise a way to beef up the joint beyond the means provided by PSI). This limits the usefulness of the guide.

I would like to change my rating to 4 stars but Amazon will not allow me to do it!More detail ...
